Sports Medicine & Athletic Student Training Program
The TUHS Student Athletic Trainer Program is ideal for students who want to be involved in athletics or who want to pursue a career in the medical field. Students will be taught basic first aid and wound care, various taping techniques, injury recognition and rehabilitation, cold and hot treatments, and practice and event coverage.
Duties of a Student Trainer
- Be on time to the training room. Report to the training room right after school…NO LATER THAN 3 PM.
- Help ATC prepare student-athletes for games (taping, stretching, etc)
- Help ATC prepare water for practices and games
- Help ATC clean the training room daily
- Student trainers must understand that medical matters and conditions discussed in the training room are confidential and are to be discussed with NO ONE
- Refer all injuries to the ATC
- Be respectful and courteous to all those who enter the training room
- Be dedicated and willing to do any task asked of them by the ATC or any other TUHS staff member
- No student trainer will make a diagnosis, recommend, give treatments or medication without the permission of the ATC.
