Sports Medicine & Athletic Training

Lindsay O'Neil assisting an injured football player

TUHS is located in Taft, CA; approximately 35 miles west of Bakersfield.  TUHS is a public high school that is home to approximately 950 students and 400 student-athletes.  Here at Taft we have 11 sports that are played on the frosh-soph, JV, and varsity levels.

Taft Union High School strives to give its student-athletes the best medical care possible.  In the past few years we have started a student athletic training program where students can gain medical experience as well as earn a varsity letter.

The TUHS Athletic Training Program is fortunate to have a large training room and several amenities that are beneficial to athletes and aid them in returning to play as efficiently as possible.  We have two state-of-the-art whirlpools, and brand new hydrocollator, and a combination electrical simulation and ultrasound machine.  In addition, we have up-to-date rehabilitation equipment to get injured players healthy and back on the playing field.

TUHS is fortunate to have an orthopedist that we work in conjunction with, a dedicated team physician, a full-time certified athletic trainer, and several student trainers.  We have an athletic trainer onsite for all home contests as well as all home and away football games.
